“Our directors have been selling and renting property in Shoreditch and the City fringe since 1985 and can confidently say we know our business inside out”

Established since 1997 Space Station is The Original Shoreditch Loft Company!

Our in depth expertise is unparalleled and we have been instrumental in moulding the strong established artistic and fashionable residential and commercial market that thrives today.

Lofts, contemporary living, inspiring workspaces and amazing penthouses are what we do best.

Before the developers, before the corporate estate agents and before Banksy sprayed his first piece of Shoreditch Urban Street art, Space Station had already played a significant role in the moulding of Shoreditch as one of London’s most vibrant and creative quarters.

Famed for being the hub of Brit art, Space Station’s association with the creative art and media community is well established. Working closely with the likes of Alexander Mcqueen (RIP) who lived and worked on Hoxton Sq, Julian Opie, Jarvis Cocker, Gary Hume and Marc Quinn who bought and old mechanics garage from us on Ravey Street in1998.

The Young British Artists (YBAs) - painters, sculptors and conceptual artists, named after a series of exhibitions of their works staged at the Saatchi Gallery in the early 1990s - were quick to seize their opportunity. Abigail Lane lived on Curtain Road; Sarah Lucas and Gary Hume had studios just round the corner. Tracey Emin recalls, “we all had studios in Wentworth Street and Brick Lane, me, Mat Collishaw, Sam Taylor-Wood, Jake and Dinos Chapman”.

Tracey Emin and Sarah Lucas rented a shop on Redchurch Street, at the top of Brick Lane, to showcase their wares. Everything for sale had been made in the studios upstairs, from T-shirts and badges to posters and tiny sculptures.

In 1998 we acquired 2-4 Chance Street from former England Rugby prop Jeff Probyn. This was subsequently sold to (Young British Artists) Sue Webster & Tim Noble, they in turn commissioned award wining British architect David Adjaye and created the Dirty House.

This was the trigger for the area around Redchurch Street becoming one of the hippest quarters in London. This was in 1998, long before Derwent Valley acquired The Hayes Building now The Tea Building at the corner of Shoreditch High Street and Bethnal Green Road, Long before Madonna had her birthday party at Shoreditch House and long before Sir Terrance Conran opened The Boundary, we had already seen the areas beauty and location.

From the beginning we were never going to be your traditional staid high street estate agents. With our innovative fresh and exciting advertising campaigns and close connection with our client base we have demonstrated that not all estate agents are equal.

We employ agents who embrace and understand that we sell and rent cool and interesting space for our fantastic and diverse client base. We have empathy toward design and a professional honest realistic no nonsense approach to selling and renting amazing spaces.

We have stayed true to our values and we believe the loft is a special piece of art that needs to be shown by the right curator.

We recognise that the loft market has evolved and sadly these magnificent properties unfortunately find themselves on the shelves next to ex-local authority flats of the larger corporate estate agencies, demonstrating that the corporate agents don’t understand or care what they sell, its just another fee, but sadly in our opinion this detracts and has a detrimental effect on the uniqueness of these wonderful spaces.

We don’t have call centres, nor will we over value your property just to win instructions, this is not good business practice it’s a false economy and in our opinion is no different to fraud! We cannot count how many times we have heard; “We wish we had listened to you guys in the first place”

We are proud of our achievements and we enjoy impressing our clients by the results we achieve for them, that’s what the SS difference is and that’s why we are:
The Original Shoreditch Loft Company!

“Russell you are the maestro of mortar, the king of concrete and the master of the deal. The only one who can sell uniqueness so well”
Marc Quinn
